Happy Monday! It’s been a while since we updated our blog, and today we decided to release all our news in one big April Update. We will publish our monthly news every, well, month from now on, with all the exciting things happening, as well as health tips and recipes.
Helping Lauriston Castle Together
First of all, together we have collected £300 for upkeeping the iconic Lauriston Castle Estate and planting new flowers. On April, 17, after the class, we ceremoniously handed over the ‘certificate’ for £300 that our amazing members so generously donated to Friends of Lauriston Castle. John the chairman said a lovely speech about the future plans and politely asked the dog owners to keep their beasts from running all over the flower beds
Lauriston Castle Estate is always in desperate need of volunteers (mostly gardening work, weeding, etc) so if you have a couple of hours a week and you like working outdoors, please follow Friends of Lauriston Castle Estate (or Friends of Lauriston Castle Estate: Official Facebook Page ) and message them. Or just message us and we’ll pass it on.
We are forever thankful to Lauriston Castle Estate and its friends for allowing us to exercise while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
5 Minute Self-Care Practice in April
Breathing deeply helps to reduce stress and it simply feels good. Find a quiet space, close your eyes and take a deep breath in for the count of five, and out for the count of five. Repeat five times, or for as long as you like. You might notice the sense of clarity and peace.
Spring Recipe: Crunchy Protein Power Wrap
Ingredients:
1 large whole wheat tortilla
½ cup canned salmon or tuna, flaked
1 boiled egg, chopped
2 tbsp hummus
salt and pepper
½ cup carrots, shredded
½ cup red bell pepper, julienned
¼ cucumber, sliced
Method:
In a medium bowl, mix salmon, egg and hummus.
Spread mixture on a large tortilla.
Top with carrot, bell pepper and cucumber.
Roll. You can toast it if you like.
